District Profile & Location

Pozos is a district in the canton of Santa Ana, province of San José.

It covers an area of about 13.34 km² and lies at an elevation of approximately 847 meters above sea level.

Pozos sits just north of downtown Santa Ana and east of Lindora, and is traversed by key roads such as Routes 27, 147, and 310.

Historically, the name “Pozos” (“ponds”) comes from the clay terrain and water accumulation in the northern part of the district, which produced small water-filled depressions (“pozos”).

Over time, Pozos has evolved from semi-rural into a fast-growing urban and residential hub.

Residential & Commercial Growth

Pozos has seen significant urban development in recent years.

It includes many gated communities, modern housing projects, townhouses, and upscale residences.

The area benefits from its proximity to Lindora’s commercial corridors, including shopping centers like Momentum Lindora, Terrazas de Lindora, and the Bolsa Nacional de Valores (National Stock Exchange of Costa Rica), which is located in the district.
